New features within Hostico services

In order to simplify certain operations, in the last month we have developed several modules to support our customers, namely:

The new SitePad sitebuilder

At Hostico, we are always in search of the most efficient solutions regarding the services we offer.
For this reason, we have decided to replace the SiteBuilder application used until recently, namely TrendyTools, with one that offers more features, namely SitePad.
One of the main features of the new application is to create responsive websites, ensuring that the site creator accommodates any device from which the site will be accessed properly.
For more details regarding the features of SitePad, you can visit the sitebuilder page, and a tutorial on how to use it is available at creating a website in 3 simple steps.

Change billing period

Customers can now modify the billing period for the services they own from within their client account.
This functionality is available for all services offered, namely: hosting, domains, VPS, etc. Accessing and using this functionality is available on the tutorial page change billing period.

Close account

For individual clients who wish to benefit from the right to be forgotten provided by GDPR, we have implemented a way to delete their account and all associated data held by Hostico from within the client account.
Although we hope that this functionality will be used by as few people as possible, those who still wish to be completely removed from our database now have the option to do so more easily.
Details on how to use this module can be found by accessing delete client account.

Service Transfer

Since moving services from one account to another involves a bureaucratic process, we decided to simplify the procedure by implementing functionality at the client account level.
Thus, clients who wish to transfer/move their services to other clients can now do so without the need to sign transfer or acceptance agreements.
A detailed explanation regarding accessing, using, and operating this module can be found at the address service transfer.

IP Unblocking

Due to Hostico's protection systems, a consecutive number of failed authentication attempts are perceived as a possible attack and implicitly lead to the blocking of the IP address of the person attempting the authentication.
However, it often happens that these attempts are actually just incorrect entries of the password for the respective mailbox or cPanel account, and the client entitled to access the account gets blocked.
Thus, through this functionality, clients who have had the misfortune of getting blocked will be able to unblock their IP address without needing to contact the technical department.

xCMS

For those who do not know, xCMS is a premium service offered by Hostico for the optimization and security of multiple types of applications including WordPress, PrestaShop, Magento, Joomla.
The fee for this service has been changed from 150.00€ installation/takeover and 50.00€ monthly subscription to 200.00€ takeover fee and 25.00€ monthly subscription.
This fee change is based on the fact that the first intervention requires the highest level of work, while maintaining the website is relatively less time-consuming.
For more details regarding this service, you can access the pages xCMS and xCMS terms.

Virtualmin

Although implemented and offered as a relatively recent free control panel option, the interaction with it was not what we hoped for from several technical perspectives.
Among these, we could list outdated versions of the necessary applications for operating a hosting server, the lack of updates, and the almost non-existent support.
All these factors led us to abandon its use and migrate existing clients to the other free control panel option, Webuzo.
We continue to offer, alongside the free Webuzo panel, the two premium control panels, namely cPanel and Plesk.

PayPal

Although implemented as a payment method for Hostico services for over 10 years, PayPal will no longer be among the payment methods offered starting from 01.11.2020.
The decision to discontinue PayPal is primarily based on the high commission charged for received payments, somewhat at odds with the low rates we offer for both domain registration and web hosting services as well as vps.
The Hostico PayPal account will remain open for a period, therefore clients who wish to continue paying using this method will be able to do so by directly sending the desired amount to the Hostico mailing address associated with the account, namely office@hostico.com
