NIS2 Directive and Online Security

In the last quarter of 2024, the NIS2 Directive came into force, a new European regulation aimed at improving cybersecurity in the member states of the European Union. It imposes new obligations for various entities, including domain registries (such as .ro domains managed by the ROTLD registry), regarding the verification and maintenance of the accuracy of domain holders' information.

Starting October 18, 2024, Hostico has initiated the process of notifying all clients whose domains are flagged by the domain registry for verification. The purpose of this effort is to ensure compliance with new European requirements and to prevent potential issues related to data inaccuracy.

If you are subject to checks and receive a notification from us in this regard, we recommend that you send us the necessary documents as soon as possible. Failure to comply with this process may lead to the suspension of the domain, and for certain extensions, even to permanent deletion. To avoid such situations, it is important to respond promptly to any requests for data verification.

For clients managing multiple domains, validation may be required for several extensions, as each ccTLD is managed by a separate registry. Thus, validation performed within one registry will not directly result in the verification of data for all owned extensions.

Important: In the context of the NIS2 directive, as well as the obligation to submit tax invoices in the national invoicing system eFactura, we emphasize the importance of providing accurate and real data for contracting services within Hostico.

If there are any questions regarding the new provisions for retaining valid information, the Hostico team is at your disposal.
